VUC Acquires Climax, MN

December 1, 2022, Valley United Co-op is excited to announce they have acquired the agronomy center in Climax, MN, formerly Columbia Grain Inc. Climax is a town in Polk County, Minnesota, with a population of about 250 people. The Climax location offers a 6,500-ton dry fertilizer plant, liquid fertilizer, seed, seed treating, and crop protection products along with custom application services.
"The facility is only 8 years old and will be a great addition to our company,” says Paul Coppin, Valley United CEO. The co-op is welcoming 8 employees to the VUC team (5 full-time and 3 seasonal). Dan Nelson, who is originally from Halstad, MN, will be the new location manager. Dan says, “I am excited to be part of a local co-op, working with growers from the area I grew up in.” Valley United Co-op is eager to extend its product line, agronomic, and technology expertise to the Climax area customers.
