Seasonal CDL / Class A or B Drivers

Valley United Coop is seeking seasonal CDL drivers/agronomy operations people. This role will primarily be responsible for the safe transport of various cargo as assigned by the grain operations manager or agronomy location manager. You will be working with the VUC team to determine which duties are the highest priority on any given day.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
  • Deliver grain or fertilizer to customer locations
  • Maintain a clean tractor and trailer
  • Off-season fertilizer plant maintenance
  • Basic service of agronomy fleet including trucks, sprayers, and floater equipment
  • Assist in receiving dry and liquid fertilizers
  • Assist in order assembly and delivery of wholesale chemical
  • Application of fertilizer to varied crops based on customer orders
  • Inspect vehicles for mechanical items or safety concerns and perform preventative maintenance
  • Treat seed and blend liquid and dry fertilizer

 

Education and Experience Required:

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
  • Must possess a CDL license with HazMat/tanker endorsement or the ability to obtain
  • Hold a valid Medical Card issued by a FMCSA Certified Doctor
  • Must be able to meet all FMCSA requirements to drive a tractor trailer
  • Ability to long hours and travel regularly (home every night)
  • No recent moving or driving violations
CDL/Floater/Operations /Halstad, MN Area

CDL/Floater Operations- Halstad MN Area

Valley United Coop is seeking a full-time floater/agronomy operations person in the Halstad, MN area. This role will primarily be responsible for the maintenance of facilities and equipment as well as warehouse duties, seed treating, blending fertilizer, and some custom application. You will be working with the location manager, shop foreman, and agronomy staff to determine which duties are the highest priority on any given day.

Valley United Coop is seeking a full-time agronomy operations person in the Halstad, MN area. This role will primarily be responsible for the maintenance of facilities and equipment as well as warehouse duties, seed treating, blending fertilizer, and some custom application. You will be working with the location manager, shop foreman, and agronomy staff to determine which duties are the highest priority on any given day.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain warehouse and accurate inventory.
  • Perform the respective services offered.
    • Treat Seed
    • Blend Liquid and Dry Fertilizer 
    • Load & Record Liquid Fertilizer 
  • Load and deliver wholesale products directly to farms. 
  • Maintain a clean yard and facility. 
  • Work as a team to demonstrate Valley United’s core values.
  • Create and complete soil samples.  
  • Continue to learn and be educated in agriculture practices as well as Valley United’s product line.
  • Assist in receiving inventory. 
  • Basic service of agronomy fleet including trucks, sprayers, and floater equipment

  • Help at the elevator (as needed)

Sales Agronomist/ Ada, MN

Sales Agronomist

Valley United Coop is seeking a sales agronomist in Ada, MN. The sales agronomist must be able to form strong relationships, provide tremendous customer service, lead technology initiatives, and build business in their designated area. We are looking for a driven individual with a proven sales and service record.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build lasting relationships and form mutual trust with new and current customers to understand their needs.
  • Develop a business plan by customer that demonstrates the best crop production practices to maximize yield.
  • Learn, share, and grow Valley United precision ag initiatives.
  • Conducts sales calls to promote and coordinate the profitable sale of crop nutrients, seed, crop protection, precision ag, and services as well as other products offered to satisfy customer needs.
  • Grow and maintain business with area producers. Works with the sales manager and location manager to designate areas that need more assistance.
  • Develops a strong working relationship with the location manager and the Valley United agronomy team to maximize customer service and teamwork.
  • Develop a strong working relationship with local supplier representatives to help support their products as prioritized by the sales manager.
  • Assist in facilitating operations to meet outlined customer service expectations.
  • Examines results of crop production studies to discover and enhance characteristics such as yield, quality, adaptation to specific soils or climates, and resistance to diseases and pests.
  • Demonstrates full knowledge of and enforces the cooperative’s credit policy.
  • Maintains company facilities, personal workspace, company equipment, and company vehicles; performs cleaning and maintenance to maintain a clean and safe environment for customers and co-workers.
  • Adheres to all safety regulations, requirements, policies, and procedures, including OSHA regulations, the Vehicle Policy, Fleet Safety Program, and DOT regulations.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in Agronomy or Agriculture preferred with a minimum of 3 years of sales experience in the agronomic industry in seed, crop protection/nutrients; or 5-6 years of sales experience in the agronomic industry in seed, crop protection/nutrients, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CDL beneficial.

Qualifications

You must be detail-oriented with excellent communication skills.

Currently enrolled in Ag Business, Crop Science, or another Agriculture related degree program

Agriculture experience or background knowledge is very helpful.

Responsibilities

Assist Agronomy Production Sales Specialists with crop scouting, soil sampling, and field agronomic problem-solving.

•Use integrated pest management techniques to determine treatment thresholds.

•Generate written reports and present them to the supervisor and/or customer.

•Learn the features and benefits of all agronomy products and services, assist with over-the-counter sales, and assist with product delivery to customers.

•Learn to perform warehouse and agronomy plant operations.

•Learn and utilize our computer program for invoicing and inventory management.

•Assist in inventory management procedures.

•Learn how to maintain equipment and facility.

•Custom application if qualified and/or if the need arises.

• Assist other departments as needed
