Valley United Coop is seeking full-time grain operations and CDL driver at our Buxton, ND location. This role will primarily be responsible for the safe handling and management of grain and other duties as assigned by the grain operations manager or elevator manager. You will be working with the entire VUC team to determine which duties are the highest priority on any given day.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Load and unload customer and outgoing trucks
• Maintenance and cleaning of elevator facility
• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
• Deliver grain or fertilizer to customer locations
• Maintain a clean tractor and trailer
• Assist in cleaning grain bins
• Assist in receiving dry fertilizers

• Possible application of fertilizer to varied crops based on customer orders
• Inspect vehicles and facilities for mechanical items or safety concerns and perform preventative maintenance

 
Education and Experience Required:

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
• Must possess a CDL license or the ability to obtain
• Hold a valid Medical Card issued by a FMCSA Certified Doctor
• Must be able to meet all FMCSA requirements to drive a tractor trailer
• Requires work in dusty conditions
• No recent moving or driving violations
• Must be able to occasionally be in confined spaces
• Must be able to climb ladders and be in high places
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

This position will serve as an introduction into the Agronomist role in a retail environment. You will be working with agronomists, staff and management to determine and safely handle appropriate agricultural inputs. You will have the opportunity to be out in the field scouting and also gain experience in running a fast-paced chemical warehouse.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
 Listed below are operational areas you will become familiar with and some of the duties of each position.
 
Fertilizer operation
 Assist in the receiving of dry and liquid fertilizers

• Assist in the blending and out-bounding of fertilizers
• Assist with the custom application of fertilizers to retail customers
• Work with the operations staff to understand and integrate best practices

 
Chemical operations
 Assist applicators in the custom application of chemicals to varied crops

• Assist in the taking of crop tissue samples to determine crop input needs
• Assist in crop scouting to help analyze and determine crop needs for nutrition, weed control and pest control during the growing season
• Manage and maintain proper inventory of crop protection products in a warehouse environment
• Assist growers in finding the best option for their operation

Valley United Coop is seeking full-time CDL driver/agronomy operations person at our Halstad, MN location. This role will primarily be responsible for the maintenance of facilities and equipment as well as warehouse duties, seed treating, blending fertilizer and some custom application. You will be working with the location manager, shop foreman, and agronomy staff to determine which duties are the highest priority on any given day.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
• Deliver grain or fertilizer to customer locations
• Maintain a clean tractor and trailer
• Off-season fertilizer plant maintenance
• Basic service of agronomy fleet including trucks, sprayers, and floater equipment
• Assist in receiving dry and liquid fertilizers
• Assist in order assembly and delivery of wholesale chemical
• Application of fertilizer to varied crops based on customer orders
• Inspect vehicles for mechanical items or safety concerns and perform preventative maintenance
• Treat seed and blend liquid and dry fertilizer

 
Education and Experience Required:

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
• Must possess a CDL license with HazMat/tanker endorsement or the ability to obtain
• Hold a valid Medical Card issued by a FMCSA Certified Doctor
• Must be able to meet all FMCSA requirements to drive a tractor trailer
• Ability to long hours and travel regularly (home every night)
• No recent moving or driving violations
