Employee Spotlight

Our Spotlight Employee for the month of August is Jon Borge. Jon is an agronomist at Valley United Co-op. He started with the Halstad Elevator in 2012 as his first job and continued with VUC after the merge as he was very happy with the new company. Jon is originally from Ada, MN. He grew up on his family farm and still farms with his dad to this day. One of his greatest accomplishments is working alongside his coworker, Jerry, growing the business, and providing great service in the Ada area. Outside of work, Jon enjoys skiing, snowmobiling, and farming.
What does Jon enjoy about his career? “I like helping out growers and seeing the crop development throughout the season.” -Jon Borge

2024 Wheat Dilemma
The 2024 Spring Wheat harvest/crop has been challenging. Markets are near their lowest levels in 5 years. Interest rates are up substantially from a few years ago, and input costs are up. Now we are in the middle of a quality issue that is negatively impacting the value of our wheat crop.
